“The trauma of the World Cup has passed,” he told Corriere della Sera.
“We must keep this in mind as a warning, but we have a duty to go back to thinking big.
“There are no teams who are clearly better than us. Argentina couldn’t win the Copa America with Messi and the others don’t have Messi, so we why can’t we think about winning the European Championship?
“Barella, Chiesa, Zaniolo, Romagnoli and many others? Yes, we’ve been brave enough to focus on young players and there could be others because we have many more good ones.
“Kean isn’t playing for Juve but could almost anywhere else, Tonali should be playing in Serie A, Sensi has huge quality and I always keep an eye on Pellegri.
“Have I already identified the next Zaniolo? Maybe because we’re following so many young lads.
“Young players are the common theme here: in two years we can put together a strong team, who can do well at the Euros and give the World Cup in 2022 a good go.
“Insigne and Immobile? Ciro must get back to scoring for the national team, like Belotti, Insigne and Politano. After that, we’ll make our choices.
“Has Balotelli’s engine reignited at Marseille? We hope it keeps going for a long time because everything depends on him.”
