A large chunk of his Press conference was dedicated to the Mauro Icardi situation and you can read those comments here, but he also tried to focus on the game.

“Sampdoria are very tough customers who are challenging for Europe, have a precise identity and everyone in the team knows what it is they are meant to do,” noted Spalletti.

“I congratulate Marco Giampaolo on how well he gets this side playing football, all despite the fact they sell players more than bring new ones in, for example such as when we bought Milan Skriniar.

“Giampaolo is one of the best tacticians in Serie A and last week’s defeat to Frosinone was a bit of a fluke. It’s the classic game where it all seems to be going wrong and then a shock result can come at the end.

“I want to see Inter put in another fine performance, like the one against Parma last week, with organisation and balance, giving a sign that we have progressed in terms of mental strength.

“This is crucial, because Inter’s history shows that when too many things pile up on the players, they struggle to react in the right way. We must not allow what has been said to infiltrate the Inter dressing room. We have only one common objective and that is to win with Inter.”
