Genoa’s sporting director claims Napoli took too long to finalise a deal for Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, while Cristian Romero is ‘very close’ to Juventus.

Piatek has gone on to make an instant impact for Milan since arriving from Genoa in January, but Mario Donatelli suggested the Pole was closer to Napoli at one stage.

“In hindsight we can say a lot of things, but Genoa made a great profit and we must congratulate President Preziosi for finding him,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“In hindsight we can say a lot of things, but Genoa made a great profit and we must congratulate President Preziosi for finding him,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“There was also a meeting with Napoli, but Milan sat doen with us and wanted to take him right away.

“Preziosi and De Laurentiis met and we intended to sell him to Napoli but keep him until June.

“However, Milan suddenly found themselves without Higuain and everything changed.”

It has been reported that Juve have a deal in place to sign Romero this summer, so will he go?

“Kouame will do well for another 3-4 months at Genoa, while Romero is very close to Juventus,” concluded Donatelli.
