Mattia Caldara has confirmed that he is ‘not far away’ from being cleared to resume his Milan career.
An Achilles injury has limited Caldara to just one Milan appearance since arriving as part of the deal that sent Leonardo Bonucci back to Juventus last summer, but the defender believes he is close to making a full recovery.
“We’re a group who always stick together, even at times of difficulty,” he told reporters.
“We all love each other in the dressing room. Work always pays and we’re on the right track.

“We showed we were a mature team who deserved to finish fourth in Bergamo on Saturday, winning at a difficult venue where Juventus lost.
“Juventus are in the past now and I’m happy here at Milan. After four months I can’t wait to start playing again, show my worth and repay the club’s faith in me.
“Today I did some light training with the team. Now I have to regain my confidence with the ball. I don’t want to say a date, but I’m not far away now.”
“Piatek immediately impressed me with his desire. He lives for goals like Inzaghi, plus he’s good at holding the ball up, allowing us to come out well. We’re lucky to have him with us.
“Gattuso spurs us on and encourages us to give our best. He’s a great Coach. Leonardo and Maldini have always been close to me, telling me to come back calmly.
“We’re a young team and we hope to build something important in the coming years. The first objective is to return to the Champions League. Our Italian defence could do well for Italy too.”
