Mauro Icardi is expected to miss Sunday’s Fiorentina trip too, but meanwhile it’s reported Inter have offered him a new contract worth €6.5m per year.
The striker was suddenly stripped of the captaincy last Wednesday and immediately felt a twinge in his knee, prompting treatment and tests that showed no damage.
Nonetheless, he remains outside the squad and is not expected to participate in Sunday’s Serie A trip to Fiorentina either.

Director Beppe Marotta repeatedly stated the decision had “nothing to do with the contract” talks, but those continue regardless with Icardi’s agent – and wife – Wanda Nara.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, a new proposal has been made by Inter for a four-year deal worth €6.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.
It is below the demand, as Icardi wanted a salary of €7.5m plus bonuses that would bring it up to around €10m per year.
Negotiations continue, although if the issue of the captaincy and his place within the squad cannot be resolved, then a summer exit is extremely likely.
Icardi currently earns €4.5m per year, just over half the wages pocketed by Paulo Dybala at Juventus.
