Livorno goalkeeper fails doping test

Serie B side Livorno have seen their goalkeeper Luca Mazzoni suspended pending further examination after he failed an anti-doping test.

The shot-stopper, who turns 35 later this month, tested positive for Benzoylechonine ecgonine, which can be found in the presence of cocaine.

The test came back positive after Livorno’s match against Lecce on February 17.

Mazzoni made 22 competitive appearances for the club this season and has been out of action since the Lecce game, officially due to a thigh strain.
