Sinisa Mihajlovic used “motivational films” to prepare Bologna for Cagliari. “We need to do more on a psychological level.”
It kicks off at 11.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.
“The lads are in good shape physically, trained well this week, but we need to do more on a psychological level,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“This team must be able to resist defeat, find maturity and get back on its feet if there is a slip. There will be moments of difficulty in a match and we’ve got to learn how to deal with them better.
“During the week, I showed the squad a film and some images that have nothing to do with football, but get the point across. I used motivational films to help them understand the importance of togetherness, dialogue and unity.
“When I was a player, we sat around playing cards during the week leading up to a game. Nowadays, they are all seated at the same table staring at their phones and nobody talks. Communication is fundamental, both on and off the field.”
This is a relegation showdown, as Bologna are in the drop zone and Cagliari are moving towards mid-table thanks to last week’s surprise win over Inter.
“Cagliari are a good team and can cause us problems, especially after that confidence-booster with Inter. Some say they’ll be more relaxed and free to play their football, others suggest it could lead to complacency. The result depends on us and we know what is up for grabs.”
Mattia Destro is back in the squad after an injury lay-off, but Mihajlovic pointed out the striker can only manage around 30 minutes, while Simone Edera is still out of action.
