The hard-line fans in the Curva Sud have been silent for the first 39 minutes of every game this season in protest at ticket prices and the reduced rapport with the club hierarchy.

This issue came to a head on Friday evening, when the ultras exchanged insulting chants with the rest of the Juventus Stadium crowd.

Offensive graffiti then appeared outside the stadium overnight, calling President Andrea Agnelli a ‘worm’, the directors ‘incompetent’ and other fans ‘puppet slaves.’

The protest was believed to be going ahead even into the Champions League Round of 16 showdown with Atletico Madrid.

However, a statement released by the Curva Sud Drughi ultras group confirmed they will temporarily suspend the strike for this one game.

“We won’t bend, we won’t be sold, but we cheer on for love. JUST FOR THE JERSEY! On Tuesday, get your voices out. The Curva Sud.”
