Simone Inzaghi was “very angry” that Lazio only managed a point against Fiorentina. “This draw frankly isn’t very helpful.”
Ciro Immobile’s curler from distance was only one of several big chances created by the Aquile, but Luis Muriel’s delicate flick held them to a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Franchi.
“I am very angry. I realise that seeing the team play that well and create so many opportunities, a Coach ought to be happy, but to do that and draw is disappointing,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.
“After a first half performance like that, we really deserved the victory. Thomas Strakosha didn’t have to make a single save and Pietro Terracciano was having the game of his life.
“The other sides are stepping up the pace and we cannot afford to be left behind. We just weren’t sharp enough in the second half, so there’s joy at seeing such a good performance, but disappointment that we came away with a draw that frankly isn’t very helpful.
“I am convinced that if we continue to play like this, luck will turn in our favour and maybe the shot that hit the upright and went out can next time ricochet inwards instead. There are regrets, but we’ve got to believe in ourselves.”
