Juventus took home record gate receipts on Tuesday, earning €5.5m from their 3-0 Champions League win against Atletico Madrid.

The receipts exceed Juve’s previous record of almost €5m from their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United earlier in the season.

Their cause was also helped by the match being a sell-out and the Curva Sud suspended their boycott against rising ticket prices.

Atleti came close to filling up their allocation, with 1,690 of their fans in attendance, as were several big names including Patrice Evra, Ciro Ferrara and Turin mayor Chiara Appendino, plus around 300 accredited journalists from around the world.
