Stefano Pioli has hinted that he will only stay on as Fiorentina Coach if he takes the club into Europe or wins the Coppa Italia.

A run of just one win in seven games has left Fiorentina seven points off the pace for a Europa League spot in Serie A and fail to make home advantage count in their Coppa Italia semi-final against Atalanta.

“[Federico] Chiesa is better and may be able to play tomorrow night,” Pioli, whose contract expires at the end of the season, said at a Press conference.

“As for Alban [Lafont], today was his first training session. It’s unlikely that he’ll play tomorrow and he’s more likely to be on the bench.

“Edimilson [Fernandes] also has some problems, so we’ll see how to manage them. Cagliari are a difficult team to overcome, especially at their place.

“They’ve got to where they are with points they’ve picked up on home soil. They play very direct and physical football, so we’ll have to be careful on the wings.

“It’ll be a complicated but very important game. Fiorentina must be ready because we’ll be playing a lot over the next two months.

“We’re competing on two fronts. It’s time for us to grit our teeth and put in a great performance.

“After that there will be a break for us to get our energy back. The next two months will be decisive for us to reach the objectives we have in our reach.

“Only after that will we think about the future.”
