Salzburg added another two late on to make the final score 3-1 on the night, 3-4 on aggregate.

“We are happy, but in the second half went too deep, too early, as our style of football needs to have possession,” Allan told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m sorry for my error, as that is what allowed RB Salzburg back into the game, but we all have to play better if we want to progress in the Europa League.

“I am very happy at Napoli and try to give 101 per cent, but we must see this quarter-final as a starting point and not a target in itself.”

Chelsea are also in the quarters, demolishing Dynamo Kiev 8-0 on aggregate, so there could be a reunion with Maurizio Sarri and Jorginho.

“We cannot choose our opponents in the draw and every team is difficult at this level. We must try to do our best and play our style of football if we want to go all the way.”
