Julio Cesar insists Inter should be in Nyon for the Champions League quarter-final draw as they ‘must always’ take part.

Julio Cesar was Inter’s No 1 during their historic season of the treble in 2009-10 and performed the draw that paired Juventus with Ajax in the last eight of the competition.

“Who was happier and who was less so among the club representatives? Let’s not talk about that…” the former Brazil goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.

“The atmosphere here reminds me of good times, although it doesn’t mean you can be happy.

“I remember well how, a year after we won the Champions, we faced Schalke but made a bad impression and went out. No-one can enjoy the draw right now.

“I’m sorry that Inter aren’t here for the draw. It gave Julio Cesar the opportunity to make himself known to the world.

“Inter must always play in the Champions League. Today I learned that those who have never won the trophy can’t touch it.

“When Figo told me, I hugged the cup and kissed it. That was really nice.”
