Roma teammates Edin Dzeko and Stephan El Shaarawy reportedly came close to blows during last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to SPAL.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Dzeko scolded El Shaarawy in the dressing room at half-time for not passing to him.
The Italian reacted with surprise and frustration, leading to the situation ‘deteriorating quickly’ and the pair ‘getting physical’.
Although no punches were thrown, the newspaper adds they had to be pulled apart by teammates.
Il Corriere claims the incident was ‘nothing new’ for the Giallorossi but only notable because El Shaarawy was ‘especially angry’ at Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri took the winger off for the second half, prompting him to accuse the Coach of ‘unfair treatment’ as the Bosnian stayed on.
