The former Rossoneri hitman spoke to Tuttosport about his new role after a 0-0 draw away to Portugal in Euro 2020 qualifying.

“The greatest difficulty I have is getting people to realise I am now a Coach and no longer a player,” said Sheva.

“I feel myself to be a tactician 100 per cent. I think, consider and act in a totally different way to the past. I have more thoughts and sleep less, for a start…”

He is not the only former Milan star to now be on the bench, as Gennaro Gattuso has taken his club to fourth place in Serie A.

“Rino has brought enthusiasm back to the fans. He is so well-prepared and it had been years since Milan were realistically challenging for a place in the Champions League. Gattuso deserves a lot of credit, as do directors Leonardo and Paolo Maldini.

“They brought in Piatek in January and he is proving himself to be a great striker. I saw the comparisons, but we have very different characteristics and he’ll make his own way.

“I really appreciate his eye for goal, as he can score in so many different ways.”

Juventus continue to dominate Serie A and will face Ajax in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Cristiano Ronaldo seems a lot younger than he is, you really can’t tell on the field that he is 34 years old. Juve were already strong before Ronaldo, but they needed a world class player like him to resolve almost impossible situations.

“Now that they have Cristiano, the Bianconeri can go all the way and triumph in the Champions League,” continued Shevchenko.

“I really appreciate Max Allegri’s ability to motivate the group, as he is a perfect Coach to deal with many champions. When you have great players, you must also trust them to a certain degree, and Max does that.”
