The Azzurri opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign last night with a victory sealed by Nicolò Barella and Moise Kean.

“We acknowledge a positive start and the result is an important one,” Gravina told Rai Sport.

“It’ll help push forward the enthusiasm that has been cultivated over the last few months and the welcome from the fans in Udine provided an extraordinary backdrop for the lads.

“People appreciate this new Nazionale and there are margins to improve further, so it’s up to Coach Roberto Mancini to find the right steps.

“We’ve got another game on Tuesday against Liechtenstein and it’s a long process to qualify for Euro 2020.”

Juventus teenager Kean was on target in his first senior Italy start, having turned 19 only last month.

“Kean had a very convincing display.”
