“Conte wants to get back to coaching in Italy,” he told Gr Parlamento.

“He’s a true leader, an added value for our football. I still have affection for Antonio.

“I regret that had I given him the money he asked for in 2016, we probably would’ve gone to the World Cup.”

The 47-year-old, who took Italy to the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, has been heavily linked with Inter and Roma in recent months.

There has even been talk of a shock return to Juventus, although it surfaced before their Champions League comeback against Atletico Madrid.
