Roberto Mancini appreciated Italy for taking “the right approach from the start” in a 6-0 Euro 2020 qualifier against Liechtenstein.

The Azzurri completed a strong opening week of Euro 2020 qualifying, having beaten Finland 2-0 and made seven changes to his starting XI at the Stadio Tardini.

“We had the right approach from the start, the win was probably to be assumed, but it was important to keep the right concentration levels and score a lot of goals,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“It was crucial that we create lots of chances and passing moves to make it a real game. I hope these debutants can stay in the Italy jersey for many years, that would truly be satisfying."

Bosnia fumbled a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Greece this evening, with Miralem Pjanic sent off, so Italy are alone on top of Group J.

“In June Bosnia and Greece will probably be fundamental games for the group.”

Earlier this evening, Mario Balotelli wrote a rant on Instagram complaining that he was insulted so much that he might turn down the Italy call the next time it arrived.

“I haven’t read it, so I can’t comment. Balotelli is not a problem for any of us. Unfortunately, you can’t be loved by everyone, there’s always going to be someone who criticises.”
