Massimiliano Mirabelli claims he agreed deals for Inter to sign Gabriel Jesus and Casemiro, but they went for Yann M’Vila and Gabriel Barbosa instead.

Mirabelli was Inter’s chief scout before he crossed over to city rivals Milan in the summer of 2017, and he hit out at the Nerazzurri for not taking his advice.

“I went to Brazil to watch Gabriel Jesus,” he continued to Libero.

“I introduced myself to Palmeiras as an Italian who wanted to see their facilities. I met the player and booked an appointment with him for a later date.

“I returned to Italy and agreed a deal for €20m, but an agent with links to the Nerazzurri interfered, wasted time and Manchester City were able to get him.

“I’d agreed to take Casemiro for €5m, but Inter preferred M’Vila. They asked me what I thought about Gabigol. I replied: ‘I’m against it.’ You all saw how that went.”

The unemployed 49-year-old was then asked about the possibility of working for Bologna or Roma next.

“Bologna is a beautiful city and a great place to work,” he admitted.

“There’s important football history at Bologna. For their results and project, they can become Serie A’s next Atalanta.

“I’m pleased to have been approached, but there hasn’t been anything concrete.

“As for Roma I’d go there on foot, but right now there’s little transparency and too much overlapping of roles. The fans deserve better.”
