Ferrero rubbishes takeover talk

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has rubbished talk that the club are on the verge of being taken over. “I thought I was the great expert of cinema…”

Telenord reported late on Thursday that Samp were hours away from being bought by American fund York Capital Management for €130m, with Gianluca Vialli replacing Ferrero as patron.

However, the film producer told reporters before a board meeting the following morning: “I thought I was the great expert of cinema, but you’re better than me.

“You’ve put out some great fiction. Today there’s a board meeting to approve the budget, as requested by Covisoc and UEFA.

“You can’t lie about these things. It’s not in my nature to tell lies. I’m proud that Sampdoria are being coveted by big businesses because it’s proof that I’ve worked very well over the years.

“I love Genoa, but if someone comes up with something serious and not these silly games then something could happen.

“Now I’m going back to work, I have no time to lose. I have little time to chatter, only work. No money, no honey.”
