Serie B: Violence overshadows Lecce win

Lecce beat Pescara to push into second place, but a vicious attack on travelling fans left four in hospital, one with head trauma.

The incidents occurred on the motorway as a bus of Pescara fans was driving towards the stadium.

It was ambushed by a group of masked thugs, who threw rocks, fireworks and home-made bombs at the vehicle, smashing the windows.

They then attacked the fans using baseball bats. Sky Sport Italia report four are in hospital, including one in serious condition with head trauma after he was struck by a rock.
