According to Corriere dello Sport, Totti ‘demands’ a role such as technical director, having alluded to it before Roma’s 4-1 defeat to Napoli at the weekend.

The former No 10 hung up his boots at the end of the 2016-17 season and quickly began working alongside then-sporting director Monchi.

However, Monchi left the Olimpico last month and the newspaper claims the Giallorossi are going ‘Italian’ again, as seen by Guido Fienga’s recent appointment as CEO.

As for who will replace Claudio Ranieri, Il Corriere writes Totti would like long-time teammate De Rossi to take over the reins.

The Giallorossi captain could retire this summer as he is 35 and his contract expires in June, while his father Alberto is currently in charge of the club’s Primavera team.

His status as a World Cup winner with Italy would also make it easier for him to acquire the necessary coaching badges to fill the post.
