Montella was of course a player and won the Scudetto at Roma, then became a Coach in their youth academy before taking on the caretaker role for the senior squad from February to June 2011.
He has since gone on to work for Catania, Fiorentina from 2012-15, Sampdoria, Milan and Sevilla.
Fiorentina boss Stefano Pioli’s contract expires in June and he has dropped several hints he intends to walk away.
As for Roma, they sacked Eusebio Di Francesco and brought in caretaker Coach Claudio Ranieri until the end of the season.
