Urbano Cairo has warned Torino’s Serie A rivals that striker Andrea Belotti is ‘hitting his stride again’ after his brace against Sampdoria.
Belotti now has five goals in his last five appearances for Toro after helping them past top-six rivals Sampdoria in a 2-1 win on Wednesday, and Cairo believes Italy cannot overlook ‘Il Gallo’ for much longer.
“It was a beautiful Toro performance,” the President told Torino Channel.
“It’s a shame about the goal we conceded but we had a great game, giving away very little, constantly attacking our opponents.
“I congratulate the Coach for preparing the team very well like always and the lads who played with the necessary determination.
“Belotti’s hitting his stride again. I saw him play with incredible physical dominance. I think he’s a great asset for Torino and the national team.
“Mancini is intelligent, he can’t not be seeing what he’s doing. In the meantime, we’re enjoying him.
“Mancini will be able to exploit him at the right time.”
The result leaves the Granata just four points off the Champions League places…
“We’re well positioned, but others are better placed than us,” admitted the patron.
“We must keep playing like we did and pick up as many points as possible. Then, at the end of the season, we’ll do the maths.”
