Claudio Ranieri has insisted that Roma ‘have no intention’ of selling Nicolo Zaniolo this summer, while his side now have ‘confidence and belief’.

Roma fought back twice to draw 2-2 with Fiorentina midweek, but their turnaround has been overshadowed by speculation about Zaniolo’s future, which the midfielder and his father have since addressed.

“I’m aware that a point may not seem much but after such an improvement in the second half, it’s clear the players are playing and doing well in an athletic sense,” Ranieri said at a Press conference.

“It’s the head that makes you feel tired or not positive. To have come back twice means we’re doing a great job mentally and I’m happy about that.

“The match against Fiorentina gave us confidence and belief, but I want to see confirmation of it against Sampdoria. It’ll be an important match in that sense.

“Zaniolo had had finished his interview and was asked another question. He said he wanted to stay at Roma.

“The club have no intention of selling him or letting him leave. He’ll be able to sign on for another year in January because before then, the law doesn’t allow it.

“He wants to stay and Roma want to keep him. I hope that’s the end of this matter.”
