“The important thing now is that everyone feels a sense of responsibility and belonging to Genoa. We all have the chance to contribute towards safety,” said the Coach in his Press conference after a 4-0 defeat to Inter.

“We must never look beyond our objective. It’ll be a complicated match, but the team needs to overcome its technical and psychological limits.

“This is a side with players capable of great things, so I want them to be daring.”

Domenico Criscito returns from suspension, but Ervin Zukanovic and Cristian Romero are suspended.

“You need to put the right players in the right roles, and I am not just talking about the system, but their attitude. I put Pedro Pereira in rather than Davide Biraschi to provide more propulsion down the wing, that is the reason. In terms of dedication to Genoa, Biraschi is extraordinary, so my decision is entirely based on the field.

“I like my team to be very attack-minded, even when the opposition have the ball. You need courage and humility. What I didn’t expect coming to Genoa was the negative and pessimistic atmosphere around the club. You can’t experience highs and lows that dramatically every 15 days.”
