“A victory would be very important, as there isn’t much time left to the end of the season and the table is taking shape. We know also how much a good result could affect morale.
“I want to field the XI that gives me the most guarantees. It’s a real battle to avoid relegation and we’ve got to focus on ourselves rather than what the others are doing. It’s important to remain optimistic.”
The midweek 2-0 home defeat to Juventus was bad enough, but Cagliari have been all over the world as the latest example of racist fans in football after their abuse of striker Moise Kean.
“I agreed with the statement released by our President Tommaso Giulini. I don’t think any further controversy would be of help to Cagliari.”
