Simone Inzaghi tried to look on the bright side of Lazio’s 2-2 draw with Sassuolo and predicts they’ll be “fighting to the end” for fourth place.

The Aquile dominated for long periods, yet in the end had to scrape a last-gasp Senad Lulic equaliser for 2-2.

“The lads did well and we allowed Sassuolo practically nothing, except for two avoidable goals in the second half,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Sassuolo are a good team and they struggled because we put in such a good performance. There are regrets over the result, but we snatched it at the 94th minute. If we win the game in hand against Udinese, then we’ll be in fourth place.

“The only mistakes we made were the two goals conceded. A team like Lazio cannot concede goals like that, especially when they were the only chances Sassuolo had.

“It was still a good performance and hopefully we’ll learn from it. The result is disappointing and two distractions were costly.”

The next fixture is a head-to-head with Milan for that fourth Champions League spot, which as of today is also held by Atalanta.

“It is going to be a very important match. We are all up there and it’s a battle for Europe. Picking up one point in two games will slow us down a little, but we’ll be fighting until the end.”
