Allegri: 'Respect for Ajax'

Max Allegri warns Juventus need to have “great respect for Ajax, because they always play the same way” ahead of the Champions League quarter-final.

The first leg ended 1-1 in Amsterdam, with the decider in Turin on Tuesday evening.

“Ajax always play the same way, it doesn’t matter if they are at home or on their travels,” the Coach told JTV.

“That means we must play well and have great respect for them. It’s a difficult match against a very impressive team.”

The Dutch giants lost the first leg 2-1 at home to Real Madrid, yet eliminated the reigning Champions League holders with a 4-1 result at the Bernabeu.

Ajax crushed Excelsior 6-2 in their Eredivisie game on Saturday afternoon, but midfielder Frenkie de Jong limped off clutching the back of his thigh after just 24 minutes.

Juventus lost their Serie A match 2-1 away to SPAL, having initially taken the lead through Moise Kean.

“The objective of the Scudetto has almost been taken home and we need a point, although if Napoli don’t win every remaining match, then this will suffice.”

If Napoli do not beat Chievo at the Bentegodi today, then the Bianconeri will be mathematically crowned Champions of Italy with six rounds to spare.
