Serie A 2019-20 dates confirmed

The 2019-20 Serie A season will begin on the weekend of August 24-25 and conclude on May 23-24, with three midweek rounds.

Italy Coach Roberto Mancini had hoped for the campaign to be brought forward to August 17-18, giving him more time to prepare for the Euro 2020 qualifiers and tournament itself.

However, the decision was made by the Lega Serie A today and explained to news agency Ansa as “being in the interests of fans who are still on their summer vacation on August 17-18.”

Juventus, Inter and Milan had also asked to start the campaign earlier.

There will be three midweek rounds, on September 25, October 30 and April 22.

There is Euro 2020 next summer with four games scheduled at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, including the opening ceremony on June 12.

In order to give UEFA more time to prep the arena by May 18, it’s reported Roma and Lazio will play their final Serie A game of the season away from home.
