Gattuso: Time for Suso 'change'

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso claims the time has come for ‘something to change’ with Suso and that Andre Silva could have a future at the club.

Milan go into their Week 33 clash with Parma fourth in Serie A but just a point clear of Roma, who have won their last two games on the bounce.

“We didn't deserve to win our first meeting,” Gattuso said at a Press conference.

“Tardini is a stadium where Milan have always struggled, tomorrow will be the same. It won’t be a decisive clash, but we have a lot to play for.

“However, I’ve seen tranquillity in the eyes of the lads over the last few days. Our enthusiasm has returned.

“I’ll go into the Acerbi-Kessie-Bakayoko case before you [journalists] ask questions. We made a mistake and apologised, it happens to human beings and it often happened to me as a player.

“The important thing is to take responsibility, Kessie and Bakayoko know they were wrong but mentally they’re strong.

“It would be nice if we all came together on Wednesday [in the Coppa Italia] to close the controversy and think only about the field.

“With a view to Parma, however, that commitment doesn’t affect me in any way. We’ve only won five games away, but it’s not a question of formation.

“We must be more ruthless and not approach games in the wrong way. We know our record for 11:30 kick-off isn’t good, but we have to face this thing and improve.

“Paqueta is looking very good, he’s trained and we’ll see if we need him tomorrow. Romagnoli also worked with the group.

“Suso makes a great contribution, but it’s time to change something with him because otherwise our opponents will figure him out and take the appropriate measures.”

The former Italy midfielder was then asked whether Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax were examples for the Rossoneri to follow, given their rise to the top with little expenditure.

“Anything can be done in life, but their realities are different to ours,” he explained.

“Tottenham have invested in their stadium and not the transfer market but have quality players who have been playing together for years.

“Ajax aren’t surprising. They’ve been doing extraordinary things for a long time and, through Cruyff, given Spain a new mentality too.”

Andre Silva has spent the season on loan at Sevilla, but it remains to be seen whether they will take up their option to buy the Milan loanee...

"Andre Silva decided he needed to leave to get more playing time,” stated the Coach.

“I’ve always thought he could be an important player for us, given his age and characteristics.”
