The disagreement occurred in the locker room after a thumping 3-0 defeat against Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Saturday.

According to Sky Sport Italia and other sources, Ferrero was very critical of the players and Coach, so Sabatini stepped in to defend them.

At this point, the argument became so fiery that they almost came to blows and had to be separated by staff and players.

“With great regret, I confirm that I have resigned,” Sabatini told Sky Sport Italia.

“There was a disagreement at the end of the game and when an employee has a disagreement like that with his employer, it is only right that he resign.

“Therefore, I leave with great disappointment, because I really care for this team. There will be no reconsideration.”
