Atalanta mourn loss of youth chief

Mino Favini, who unearthed Filippo Inzaghi and pioneered Atalanta’s youth system, has died at the age of 83.

Favini first played for Atalanta between 1960 and 1962, before returning to the club as their head of youth operations in the 1990s.

He is credited for bringing through Inzaghi, as well as the likes of Riccardo Montolivo, Giampaolo Pazzini, Giacomo Bonaventura, Manolo Gabbiadini and former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi, amongst tens of others.

He left at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, laying the foundations for the Dea’s recent renaissance.
