Hellas Verona have fired Coach Fabio Grosso after a shock 3-2 home defeat to relegation-threatened Livorno.

The Stadio Bentegodi side were one of the favourites to come back up to Serie A this season, but struggled throughout and have been particularly poor over the last couple of months.

“You know how I feel about the Coach, but today was unfortunately a very disappointing performance that made me extremely anxious,” Verona President Maurizio Setti told TeleArena.

“Our objective is to get into Serie A and so, with a heavy heart, I fired the Coach.”

Grosso is a 41-year-old World Cup winner, but his management career has been generally troubled.

He worked in the Juventus youth academy, then one season at Bari and had joined Verona last summer.
