Roma President James Pallotta said their Stadio della Roma project is “getting close” to taking as long to build as the Colosseum.
The plans to build their own arena has been at the forefront since Pallotta first took over in 2011, but is still no closer to completion.
In fact, a recent political and corruption scandal in Rome involving one of the figures behind giving the all-clear to the project could threaten them to start everything from scratch.
It has been suggested the club could need to find a new location other than the Tor di Valle spot that has caused so much controversy.
“No one has on record how long it took to build the Colosseum but we're getting close,” said Pallotta during today’s Sport Business Decision Makers Summit in Miami.
He also noted he’d “probably be dead” before MLS became a major factor in the world of football, calling it “a nice local league.”
