Monchi has insisted that while he ‘admires’ Eusebio Di Francesco, the former Roma boss ‘isn’t Sevilla’s first choice at all.’

Reports surfaced earlier on Tuesday that Di Francesco had been offered the chance to reunite with Monchi at Sevilla, but the ex-Roma sporting director played down the speculation.

“Eusebio is a person I admire, with whom I had two magnificent years in Rome, but he isn’t our first choice at all. He’s far from it,” he told Radio Marca.

“You’re barking up the wrong tree. Today our Coach is Joaquin Caparros and I want to evaluate him like the others. Let’s not start speculating.

“I come back here with enthusiasm like never before. Those who know me and see me every day know it.

“I also come with new ideas, which I’ve been able to carry out at Roma, and I want to put them at the service of the club, to try to be more demanding if possible.”
