Roma had reportedly targeted Sarri after missing out on Antonio Conte, but Sarri made it clear his preference was to remain at Chelsea.

“As I have said I want to stay here,” he said at a Press conference, football.london reports.

“I like English football, the atmosphere. I want to stay in English football. I can try with another English club!

“At the moment we spoke one month ago [about] preseason. We didn’t speak about the market, at the moment we don’t know if we will be able to go into the market.”

The Napoli old boy was then asked to rate his first season at Stamford Bridge, which has yielded Champions League qualification, a League Cup Final and possible Europa League glory.

“I think that my job is not to win a trophy in the first way, it is to improve the players,” he added.

”We are trying to do it, some have done it. Callum [Hudson-Odoi], [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek, not only the young players. But [Ross] Barkley has improved.

“We started the work, had a lot of problems and in the end the work is going in the right direction.”
