Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina has been given permission to return to Colombia, but there could be repercussions for Arsenal.
A statement on the club website confirmed the shot-stopper had been given a few days off for family reasons and will therefore miss this weekend’s Serie A game against SPAL.
No further details will be given in order to respect his privacy and it’s not clear when he’ll return.
However, some have pointed out this means Ospina might not make his quota of competitive appearances in a Napoli jersey to activate the buy-out option from Arsenal.
The loan deal was agreed with a clause forcing Napoli to purchase him if he played at least 25 games in this season.
So far, Ospina has made 24, but they could be calculated as 23 because he was substituted in the first half against Udinese following a knock to the head.
