Napoli 'could remove Insigne armband'

Napoli reportedly have doubts over Lorenzo Insigne’s suitability as captain.

Accorrding to La Repubblica, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis is unsure Insigne has the right ‘personality’ to wear the armband.

The captaincy has been put forward as a reason for the attacker’s documented drop in form since the turn of the year.

However, the newspaper stresses De Laurentiis will not intervene directly, only that his opinion could influence Carlo Ancelotti’s thinking.

Insigne only took over the armband in February, replacing Marek Hamsik who moved to Chinese club Dalian Yifang.

The 27-year-old is expected to sign a new contract that takes him through to 2024, worth €5m a season plus bonuses.
