Walter Mazzarri celebrated Torino’s dramatic turnaround against 10-man Sassuolo and a new points record, but “we still don’t know if we’re in Europe.”
Toro moved up into sixth place on 60 points, three behind Inter in fourth – although the Nerazzurri have a game in hand.
The Granata have come back from finding themselves a goal down on two occasions this season, but had never recovered from going behind twice, until this morning.
“Yesterday, I pointed out that we had never won a thrilling match like this, but today we did. We rarely have been able to come back from behind to win,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 3-2 victory.
“This was the classic cursed game, they scored on their first attack, we missed a penalty and we suffered mentally after that by missing a lot of chances.
“Lucky for us, half-time came when it did and we were able to recover psychologically during the break. We scored three times, but probably should have scored more.”
This result has set a new all-time club record of 60 Serie A points, at least during the three points for a win era.
“We are now on 60 points, but we still don’t know if we will qualify for Europe or not. We are growing, we picked up 33 points in the second half of the season.
“This team is growing in confidence, while also becoming aware of its strengths and qualities. The club and fans must be satisfied.
“There are two finals left to play and we want to do as best as we can in them.”
