Seventh place in Serie A will be good enough for Europa League qualification if Atalanta win the Coppa Italia and finish in the top four.
Atalanta are two wins away from reaching the Champions League for the first time in their history.
As it stands, fifth place and the Coppa Italians qualify for the group stage of the Europa League, with the team in sixth spot going into the second preliminary round.
However, if the Orobici finish in the top four and lift the Coppa, the fifth and sixth-placed sides will be sent straight into the group-stage draw.
That opens the door for the team finishing seventh to gain access to the second preliminary round.
Inter, Milan, Roma, Torino and Lazio are all also in the running for Europe next season.
