Palermo say they ‘expect’ the Serie B playoffs to be suspended while they appeal their demotion to the third tier.
Palermo are in the process of having their relegation overturned, but the situation has been complicated by their third-place finish in Serie B, which should have seen them compete in the playoffs.
“We expect the playoffs to be suspended by tomorrow’s Federal Council,” President Alessandro Albanese told reporters.
“After that, we’ll wait for the verdict of the second-level judgment, which will be almost final: we remain confident, despite everything.
"We’ve said so much about this issue. We’re proposing an appeal for a precautionary suspension of the playoffs.
“Our appeal will be filed today, and then we’ll wait for the verdict.”
As it stands, the Rosanero have been replaced in the playoffs - which are due to begin on Friday - by Alessandro Nesta’s Perugia.
