Our sister site Football-Espana.net explains how the Portugal international has not started a match for loan club Sevilla since March and complained of a knee injury in recent weeks.

The striker clarified in an interview with A Bola: “I’m not simulating an injury, I’ve been receiving treatment.

“My conscience is clear; I’ve wanted to play and the problem for me is that as time has passed, the pain has worsened.

“Maybe this hasn’t been handled in the best way and I should’ve taken a break in December to sort it, but Sevilla needed me and I wanted to play.”

Sevilla seem increasingly unlikely to take up their €35m option to buy Silva, who has scored just two goals in his last 20 League games, and he was asked where his future lay.

“I’m a Milan player,” he concluded.
