The Aquile beat Atalanta 2-0 on Wednesday night to clinch their seventh edition of the Coppa Italia.

It also ensured they go directly into the group phase of the Europa League next season.

This has repercussions in the incredibly tight race for Europe in Serie A, as the team in fifth will also go to the group phase, while sixth must begin from the second preliminary round, which begins in July.

The only exception would be if Lazio end up in sixth place in Serie A, in which case the club in seventh will enter the preliminary round.

As things stand, Inter are third on 66 points, Atalanta fourth with 65, Milan and Roma follow on 62, with Torino on 60 and Lazio 58.
