Max Allegri has emerged as a surprise candidate for the Roma bench, as President James Pallotta has reportedly asked after the Juventus Coach.

According to both Il Messaggero and the Corriere dello Sport, Allegri is the hot name on the list of potential candidates to take over at the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Allegri will be a free agent, as he agreed to terminate his Juventus contract by mutual consent on Friday.

Maurizio Sarri and Gian Piero Gasperini had been leading the way as favourites for the role, but the six-time Scudetto winning tactician is now reportedly in the running.

However, his decision may well depend on whether Roma qualify for the Champions League, which looks extremely unlikely after last night’s 0-0 draw with Sassuolo.
