Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has emerged as a candidate for the Roma job, claim Sky Sport Italia.
Eusebio Di Francesco was fired in March and Claudio Ranieri was only ever brought in as a caretaker until the end of the season.
Antonio Conte was approached, but turned down the Giallorossi, as he is now on the verge of signing for Inter.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, the latest favourite for the Stadio Olimpico role is Bielsa.
El Loco is currently at Leeds United in the English Championship – their version of Serie B – and took over last summer, with a contract to June 2020.
It would be an extraordinary turn of events, because Bielsa had signed a contract with Roma’s arch rivals Lazio in the summer of 2016.
He then didn’t turn up to pre-season training and quit two days later, insisting the club had gone back on its promises to sign any of their seven transfer targets.
