“Sunday against Lazio will be my last game,” he said at a Press conference.

“I’m happy and content that I’m closing an important chapter in my life. I want to thank the President and Coach for trying to convince me to stay.

“I joined Toro six years ago and a new career path began for me. For that, I thank President Urbano Cairo and sporting director Gianluca Petrachi.

“I also want to thank all the fans who supported me from the first day I arrived here.”

The 37-year-old began his career at Lodigiani and also played for Fiorentina, Juventus, Modena, Bologna and Valencia.

He collected two Italy caps during Antonio Conte’s reign as CT, becoming the Azzurri’s oldest-ever debutant aged 33.
