With rumours swirling about interest from Juventus and Milan in poaching Inzaghi, the tactician again did not speak to the media, instead only giving a brief interview with the official Lazio station.

“We want to end the season in the best possible way, but are up against a Torino side that has played very well, achieved 60 points and is in a strong position,” said Inzaghi.

“Over the last three years, we have always fought it out to the end to achieve our targets. The first season, we qualified early for the Europa League and played the Coppa Italia Final with Juventus.

“In the second, we won the Italian Super Cup and then we all know how it went, losing Champions League qualification in the last five minutes against Inter. It was partly our own fault, partly down to external factors. We also had a long run in the Europa League, losing the quarter-finals with RB Salzburg.

“In this third year, we certainly could’ve had a few more points, but we won the Coppa Italia in front of our fans and that was an extraordinary success.

“Without a few injuries at the wrong times, we certainly would’ve done better, but it was still a magical year. It makes us proud that over three seasons we always challenged for the big prizes to the very end.

“My greatest satisfaction, though, is to have brought so many fans back to the stadium. When we all work together, we can achieve something extraordinary, as we’ve seen.”
