Lazio have reportedly enquired after England international striker Danny Welbeck, whose contract with Arsenal expires next month.
According to The Sun newspaper, Lazio director Igli Tare has approached Welbeck’s representatives to ask about his availability.
The 28-year-old is on the road to recovery after fracturing his ankle in November and could be on the bench for Wednesday’s Europa League Final against Chelsea.
Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United have all shown interest in Welbeck.
He would be the second Arsenal player to let his contract run down and move to Italy as a free agent after Aaron Ramsey signed a deal with Juventus.
Welbeck only made 14 competitive appearances for the Gunners this season due to his injury, but scored five goals.
He has 16 goals in 42 senior caps for England and could be intrigued by an experience in Rome, especially as Lazio have qualified for the Europa League as Coppa Italia winners.
