Leonardo Semplici said although he is grateful to SPAL, he is “also ambitious and I’d like to take a step forward” amid Genoa rumours.
The Coach helped SPAL climb from Serie C to the top flight, where they consolidated their status this season.
“We confirmed our position in the most prestigious tier of Italian football and did it with several weeks to spare,” said Semplici at an awards ceremony.
“This award also goes to the club, who put a wonderful team at my disposal. I have a contract with SPAL and owe a great deal to these directors who chose me four years ago.
“I am very grateful, but as is only right, I am also ambitious and I’d like to take a step forward in my career. I have a contract with SPAL, so I will talk to the club in the same calm way I have done every year at the end of the season.”
There are reports Semplici is the first name on the list for Genoa should Cesare Prandelli walk away.
